Sandhill Cranes live in freshwater wetlands. It can weigh up to 15 pounds and have a wing spand of 6 feet. It is the oldest known bird species still surviving, identical to crane fossils from ten million years ago. They are noted for their elaborate mating rituals in which two cranes sing, dance, run, and leap together.
